About me

The longer version — where I'm from, how I got into building software, and what I'm like away from a codebase.

Hey there 👋, my name is Joshua and I'm a software engineer with a focus on frontend development. I've contributed to and led projects across social apps, marketing sites, internal dashboards, data visualizations, and decentralized applications — and I'm comfortable taking products from idea to launch, not just the UI layer.

Born and raised in 🇮🇩 Surabaya, Indonesia. Received my bachelor's degree in Informatics at Institut Teknologi Adhi Tama Surabaya in 2023. I currently work as a software engineer and help organize SurabayaJS.

How I got here

I started programming in 2018 with C and C++ at college, then wandered through web development, mobile, and even AR — I spent a fair amount of time making Instagram filters in Spark AR just because it was fun. Technology stuck because it gave me a place to be creative and build things people actually use.

In 2019 I leaned hard into web development with PHP and Laravel. SurabayaJS introduced me to JavaScript properly, and that became the lane I stayed in. Since then I've built for agencies, startups, Web3 protocols, and community projects — usually as the person who owns the frontend, but often enough of the product to ship something real end to end.

How I work

Most of my day-to-day is React, TypeScript, and whatever stack fits the product — Next.js for marketing and apps, wallet integrations and on-chain UX in Web3, dashboards when the problem is data-heavy. I care about performance, clear interaction design, and code that the next person (often future me) can follow.

I'm not precious about titles. Frontend is where I'm strongest, but I like understanding the whole product: what users need, what the backend expects, and what "done" actually means before something ships.

Outside of work

When I'm not at a desk, I'm usually reading, playing something slow or difficult on the Switch, taking photos around Surabaya, or spending time with friends and family. I'm married to Pretty — my wife, and easily the best part of life away from the screen. I like cities that are a little messy, good coffee, and long walks with no particular destination.

This site is partly a portfolio and partly a notebook — projects, books, games, photos, and whatever else feels worth keeping. If something here resonates, say hi.
